Voice InstructorTierra Whetstone-Christian
Bachelor of Arts in Music from North Park University
Chicago native Tierra Whetstone-Christian enjoys the state of excitement that comes upon others when a song is involved. Her musical expertise includes singing, conducting, arranging, and composing. When Tierra is not singing, teaching or conducting she’s most likely acting it out on the stage. Tierra has had the privilege to work with Open door theater, ETA theater and Pegasus theater in Chicago. In 2013, she was nominated for the Black Theater Alliance award for best supporting actress in a play. Tierra has also sung with the Adrian Dunn Singers, a well-rounded group of all black musicians. Tierra is an enthusiastic teacher and loves what her students teach her everyday.
Reflections from the team:
Many of our teachers spend time and conversation to connect with their students; Tierra’s approach is to find connection with sound and song. She creates beautiful and challenging exercises for her students, helping them quickly develop fluency, agility, and intention in their singing. Her positivity and gentleness are contrasted perfectly with her fierce belief in her students’ capabilities. Her students always leave their lessons feeling empowered and motivated to keep improving.
